Battle of Lexington and Concord
On April 18, 1775, British forces left Boston to destroy weapons in Concord. The next day, militia at Lexington tried to stop the British army unsuccessfully. Militia at Concord defeated British sources who also suffered great losses on the way back to Boston. -
Fort Ticonderoga
Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen's Green Mountain Boys joined forces and and took the British own fort. The Patriots won easily. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The first major battle. British victory but more British died then Patriots. -
Battle of Long Island
The first major battle since the Declaration of Independence. Began on August 27, 1776 and ended on August 29, 1776. -
Battle of Trenton
Soon after this battle a little battle happened on January 3rd at Princeton. -
Battle of Saratoga
After the British surrendered the French decided to help the American cause. There was another battle on October 7-17, 1777. -
Battle of Cowpens
Greene split his army in two and one section defeated the British at Cowpens. -
Battle of Yorktown
Last major battle of the war. Cornwallis (British) surrendered.
