  • Battles at Lexington and Concord

    Battles at Lexington and Concord
    This battle started the Revolutionary War and was the result of building tensions between the British authority and the American colonists. The British ended up retreating after heavy fire from the colonists who had been warned by Paul Revere that, "The British are coming!" but came through with the win. It essentially was the trailblazer for more conflicts of a true war and the lead a path to the rest of the war.
  • Battle of Fort Ticonderoga

    Battle of Fort Ticonderoga
    At dawn one May morning, Benedict Arnold from Massachusetts, Ethan Allen, and the Green Mountain Boys from Vermont made a surprise attack on the British at the fort. Using the element of surprise, the Americans were able to take over the fort, an essential territory to access Canada and the Hudson River Valley, and take their first victory of the war. This gave Americans needed artillery for coming battles.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Colonel William Prescott of the Continental Army told his troops to not fire until they saw the white of the eyes of the British and this strategy sent the British into retreat at Bunker Hill killing 200 and injuring 800. But the British were able to attack again and in the end ended up winning the battle and taking over the Charlestown Peninsula. This battle boosted the confidence of the underdog American troops and made the British realize this wasnt going to be an easy fight.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    Composed of two battles 18 days apart, the American troops were able to take the win with the second battle when they were attacked at Bemis Heights. The American troops were lead by Benedict Arnold and Horatio Gates. Known as a turning point, this battle convinced the French government to recognize the reality of the colonists' cause and become allies with them.
  • Battle of Monmouth

    Battle of Monmouth
    Under the authority of General George Washington, the Continental Army attacked the British from the rear as they left the Monmouth Court House. Both the Americans and the British, lead by Cornwallis, became exhausted in the 100 degree weather but the Americans claimed the victory. Washington emerged as a brave and tactical leader.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Battle of Cowpens
    Taking place in South Carolina, the Americans under General Daniel Morgan attacked British troops and inflicted many casualties. This signified the turning point for the southern campaign of the Revolution. It also provided a morale boost which helped with their win later that year in Yorktown, Virginia which was one of the last major conflicts.
