This battle started the revolutionary war. Showed that the militia could stop the red coats -
Fort TIconderoga
This was the first American vicotry of the war. Gave the Cntinental army much needed artillery. -
Bunker Hill
The British won this battle but the Militia caused significant loss to the British army. The British were able to control the flow of traffic into Boston Harbor from this hill. -
Trenton/Princeton
Washington led the victory. This victory improved American control of New Jersey. This battle also prevented Great Britain from taking Philadelphia. -
Battle of Saratoga
This Battle lasted 18 days and General of the Britain army, John Burgoyne attacked twice. He was succesful the first time but then was deferated and forced to retreat the secnond time. This battle led to the French to join as our ally. -
The Siege of Charleston
The Americans suffered the worst defeat of the war at this battle. The British captured more than 3,000 patriots and killed/wounded another 250. -
Battle of Kings Mountain
Major Ferguson charged down the mountain and was destroyed by the Americans. The British casualties were: 157 killed, 163 injured, and 698 captured. Americans only had 28 killed and 60 wounded -
Battle of Cowpens
This battle was a turning point on the Southern campaign. Americans under the lead of Brigadier General Daniel Morgan, won. -
Yorktown
Yorktown was the last battle in the Revolutionary War. Lord Frederick surrended to Cornwalis on October 19th.
