  • Battle of Lexington

    Battle of Lexington
    700 British soldiers were on there way to seize illegal weapons from the Colonists in Concord.On their way there they were met by minutemen in Lexington and engaged in 15 minutes of battle with them after someone had fired a weapon. This battle left 10 wounded and 8 dead minutemen, and injured one British soldier.
  • Battle of Concord

    Battle of Concord
    After the Battle of Lexington, The British marched to Concord but didn't find anything in the Colonist arsenal.On their way back to Boston, they were attacked and killed by 3000 to 4000 minutemen leaving only a few of them alive.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Confined to Boston, British general Thomas Gage decided to attack militia men that were on Breed's hill.He sent 2400 British soldiers up the hill, the militia men held their fire until as long as they could and then began to fight against the British before they eventually retreated.This battle killed 450 militia men and caused 1000 British casualties.
  • New York

    32000 British troops entered The New York harbor and attempted to seize New york in the summer of 1776.Later on that August, The continental army attempted to defend New york from the British but they were unable to because of there lack of training and Lack of resources.The Continental army ended up retreating in the end.
  • Trenton

    On December 25, 1776, on a stormy night, George washington lead 2400 men across a ice filled Delaware River on rowboat.They made a surprise attack on a Garrison of Hessians and defeated them in Trenton, New Jersey.
  • Philadelphia

    Philadelphia
    After the defeat in Trenton, the British began to regroup. Then, they went on to capture and obtain Philadelphia which was the nation's capital at the time.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    Washington and his troops were in a winter camp in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. They were short on food and supplies and had to persevere through that time. As a result, more than 2000 men died and Washington continuously was sending Congress letters on the situation.
  • Saratoga

    Saratoga
    A British General named John Burgoyne had plans of meeting up and joining other British troops in New York City so, he made his way down through Canada to Albany. But, when he arrived, The other British troops were not there and many American troops had been gathering together. The American troops finally surrounded Burgoyne in Saratoga where he surrendered.
  • Marquis De Lafayette

    Marquis De Lafayette
    During the winter stay of American troops in Valley Forge, a foreign military leader named Marquis De Lafayette came to help the men. He called for french reinforcements allowing him to lead a command in Virginia along the end of the war and also strengthened the American troops.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    George Washington and Marquis De Lafayette went down to Yorktown in order to confront the British General Charles Cornwallis. They surrounded the British with 17000 men and fought continuously day after day for no more than a month until, Cornwallis finally surrendered on October 19, 1781.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    After the defeat of British General Cornwallis, peace talks began in Paris by representatives. In 1983 the Treaty of Paris was signed by the delegates which stated the territorial boundaries of the now independent America.
