Lexington
The First battle of the revolutionary war, which lasted 15 minutes.The British troops which were know as the redcoat arrived at Lexington Massachusetts. The Colonist started moving out until someone fired and then the British fired back. 8 minutemen were killed another 10 were wounded and only one British soldier was injured. -
Concord
The British were marching off back to Boston but 3,000 to 4,000 minutemen began to shoot the British men from behind stone walls and trees. Many British men were killed. The ones that were left marched back to Boston . Colonists were now British enemies and had Boston and British camps under blockage. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The deadliest battle of the war. British general Thomas Gage sent 2,400 soldiers to battle. The Colonists began to fight back before they got any closer. The colonist lost 450 men and the British suffered over 1000 causalities. -
New York
The British sailed into New York in the summer with 32,000 soldiers and hired soldier also. to seize New York. The colonial troops were not ready and not prepared to fight so they retreated. The British took over and moved the colonial army to Pennsylvania. -
Trenton
George Washington led 2,400 men in boats across the Delaware river and marched to Trenton where they defeated the hired soldiers of the British. -
Philadelphia
The British captured the American capital at Philadelphia -
Valley Forge
The colonial troops struggled for survival during the winter at valley forge, their camp. More than 2,000 soldiers died. -
Saratoga
The surrender of General John Burgoyne which led to the french believing that the American troops could win then war and which led to them allying with the Americans -
Marquis De Lafayette
Lafayette was a foreign military leader that helped the Colonial troops to become an effective fighting force. He also led a command in Virginia for the last years of war. -
Yorktown
Lafayette and Washington lead their armies toward Yorktown and about 17,000 French and American troops surrounded the British and there they fought until Cornwallis surrendered. -
