    The 13 colonies declared their independence from Great Britain written by Thomas Jefferson.In which it states a democracy government,the people have a say in who is in control,equal rights such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.The Declaration was the first step to fight for independence.The Declaration led freedom and the creation of America.

    The first public reading of the declaration of independence was in Philadelphia. The people celebrated because they was finally able to be free from British rule.People also celebrated due to the fact of being able to have equal rights.The Declaration gave people hope and led to war for freedom.
  • Battle in Long Island

    Battle in Long Island
    Washington Army was defeated by the red coats in the battle of Long Island.The British had a army of around 20,000 while the American army was around 10,000 the British had an advantage.Both sides used muskets and bayonets in order to fight for victory.In the end the British won the war and Washington Army was able to escape at night.

    The Congress stated that the flag of American should be labeled with 13 stripes red and white and 13 white stars labeled on top of blue.They used 13 stripes and stars to symbolize the 13 states.The flag represented a new country and a reason to fight.The flag gave people pride and showed who the Americans were.

    Washington Army was forced to stop the fighting due to the winter at Valley Forge.Washington suffered many defeats and many died from disease.Washington's army was stuck in Valley Forge due to the climate.The cause in Valley Forge made Washington's army more stronger.

    America and France sign the French Alliance and work together to fight against a common enemy Great Britain.The French supplied the Americans with soldiers in return for land from Great Britain.This alliance supported both America and France and together they would fight a common enemy.The Alliance with France was best handy in the battle of Yorktown where the French Naval Ships helped defeat the British.
  • The Fight at Ramsour's Mill

    The Patriots were in the battle in Ramseurs Mill versus the Tories by attacking the Patriots with a surprise attack.The loyalist waited for the patriots and attacked them when they arrived. Although the Patriots had less people they began to strike back pushing the Tories back.The battle left 70 dead and 200 wounded equally dividing both the sides.In the end the Patriots won against the Tories and it was a huge morale boost for the army.
  • The Vicious Winter

    Washington was held up at Morristown,NJ where he experienced the harshest winter of the 18th century.the temperature was continuously cold that for the only time recorded in history the waters froze in New York.Soldiers had to build huts and survive on a limit amount of food.The winter cost the army horses and tons of food and supplies.
  • Victory Versus The Tories

    The Patriots came victorious versus the battle against the Tories in Hanging Rock,South Carolina.Colonel Thomas Sumter and Major William Richardson Davie attack and defeat a larger British force. Davie used a diversion to fight but this way he was very successful and help the Patriots earn valuable supplies. The British lost 200 men killed and wounded out of 1,400 men engaged.The Patriots lost 12 men 14 wounded out of the 800 engaged.

    New Commander In The South
    General Washington names Nathanael Greene as the new commander of the Southern Army.Greene had no military training or experience.Greene was one of the major figures for the American Revolution and helped fight for independence.He is best known for his success in the war in the south of 1780-1781. During which Greene fought the British forces under Charles Cornwallis enough to force him to seek refuge, reinforcement, and resupply at Yorktown, where Cornwallis surrendered in October.
  • Rebellion of The Soldiers

    Pennsylvania soldiers started to revolt due to not being paid and stopped fighting and started to riot known as Mutiny of the Pennsylvania Line. Continental soldiers demanded higher pay and better housing conditions.The mutiny ended with a negotiated settlement on January 8, 1781 causing this riot to last 7 days.
  • A new Confederation

    A new Confederation
    The Article of Confederation was created,Which was an agreement of the original 13 states which set a foundation to form a new government.The US set basic human rights law so people could be equal.The Articles was weak and couldn't enforce any laws which mean they had no power.The Congress couldn't tax so they never got money to improve.The Articles was disaster and only lasted 4 years.

    America and Britain sign the Article of Peace to negotiate peace leading to the end of the war and peace between the two.The British realized they lost they war and could not continue the war.This Article gave America Independence and led to a victory.The US was given all the land that were conquered by the British during the French and Indian war.This meant the American can expand and create new states.
  • The Treaty Of Paris

    America and Britain sign the Treaty Of Paris concluding the end of the war and victory for America.France gave up all its territories in North America,ending any foreign military threat to the British colonies there.The war granted the U.S. significant western territory leading them to expand.The treaty led a massive blow to British and gave America power and dominance.
