The British wanted a bigger army in northern America so they passed the Stamp Act on March 22nd of 1765. The stamp act was a way to raise money through taxes on all legal and official paperwork. -
Townshend act of 1767
The Townshend act was in 1767 when the British upped the taxes of glass, lead, paper, tea and paint. The American colonists agured that they didn't have a right to tax them because they didn't have any have a legislative body. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was a political protest. The Sons of Liberty protested the rising price of tea because of the British taxes. -
First Continental congress meeting
The first Continental congress meeting was to declare that colonists have the same rights as Englishmen and to suspension of trade to Great Britain. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
The battle of Lexington and Concord was the first battle in American Revolution. Colonists tried to claim independence from the British authority. -
Second Continental Congress Meeting
They met to further the plan if Britain didn't modify their acts even though this is after the Lexington battle. Another reason why they met up was because the Congress was called to take charge of the war effort. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The battle of Bunker Hill was fought during the first stage of the American Revolutionary War. It is important to the history of America because even though the US lost they proved they could fight the British equally. -
Olive Branch Petition
The Olive Branch petition was a last resort To prevent war to be declared. In the document it states the colonists loyalty and their rights to the British crown. -
Thomas Paine's Common Sense
Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" was a way to fight against the hold that Great Britain had on early American colonists. He stated that British rule was the cause to all of colonial society and to fix it the colonists would have to take independence. -
Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation was an agreement of the 13 colonists to make their first government. -
Great Compromise
The Great Compromise was reached during the Constitutional Convention. It defined the legislative structure and representation of each state that'd be under the American Constitution. -

Bill of Rights Adopted
President George Washington sent of the 12 amendments to the other states. By December 15, 1791 three-fourths of the untired states ratified that 10 of those amendments.
