The age of enlightenment occurred throughout the 17th and 18th century and it was know as the time period of great change and new ideas. It produced books, inventions, essays, scientific discoveries and laws. -
French and Indian War

The French and Indian war provided Great Britain enormous territorial gains in North America, but disputes over subsequent frontier policy and paying the war's expenses led to colonial discontent, and ultimately to the American Revolution. Then in 1763 this all ended with the Treaty of Paris. -
Sons of Liberty

Sons of liberty was a secret of revolutionary organization that was founded by Samuel Adams in the thirteen American colonies to advance the rights of the Europeans colonists and to fight taxation by the British government. It played a major role in most colonies in battling the Stamp Act. -

The Stamp Act was the first internal tax levied directly on American colonists by the British Parliament. That passed but repealed it in 1766, but issued a Declaratory Act at the same time to reaffirm its authority to pass any colonial legislation it saw fit. -

The townshend acts were a series of laws passed by the British government on the American colonies. They placed new taxes and took away some freedoms from colonists as in new taxes and imports. -
Boston Massacre

The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on March 5th 1770. Between a "patriot" mob, throwing snow balls, stones, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers. Several colonists were killed and this led to a campaign by speech-writers to rouse the ire of the citizenry. -
Boston Tea Party

The Boston tea party was a political protest that occurred at Griffin's Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts. American colonists frustrated and angry at Britain for imposing "taxation without representation," dumped 342 chests of tea imported by the British East Company into the harbor. -

Virginia was a decisive victory by a combined force of American continental Army troops led by General George Washington and French Army. Joint Franco-American land and sea campaign that entrapped a major British Army on a Peninsula a Yorktown, Virginia, and forced its surrender. The siege ended military operations in the American Revolution. -
Treaty of Paris Signed

The Treaty of Paris was signed by U.S. and British Representative ending the war of American Revolution. Based on a 1782 preliminary treaty, the agreement recognized U.S. independence and granted the U.S. significant western territory. -
Bills of Right Adopted

The bills of rights adopted is the first ten Amendments to constitution. It spells out Americas right in relation to their government. It guarantees civil rights and liberties to the individual, like freedom of speech, press, and religion. -
