  • French & Indian War

    French & Indian War
    7 Years War this war began in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The war provided Great Britain Territorial gains in North America. The Treaty of Paris involves France lost all claims to Canada and gave Louisiana to Spain also Britain received Florida, some of Canada, and also various French holdings overseas.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    British boundary mark saying settlers were not to go west of the Appalachian Mountains. This was off limits to all colonists because they didn't have anyone to protect that part of the colony.
  • Stamp Act 1765

    British Parliament finally passed the Stamp Act or Duties in American Colonies. It required colonists to pay taxes on all papers and official documents in the American Colonies but not England
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770 between a "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks and a squad of British Soldiers. Several Colonists were killed.
  • Intolerable Act

    The Intolerable Act was a series of laws passed by the British Parliament after the Boston Tea Party. Colonists responded to the Intolerable Acts with a show of unity. The colonists closed the Boston Ports until the price of dumping the tea was paid back.
  • First Continental Congress Meet

    The First Continental Congress met at Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the fall of 1774. When the Delegates reconvened in May 1775, however, they met in Pennsylvania's state house. By late 1776, as the British neared Philadelphia, Congress relocated 100 miles south to Baltimore, Maryland. First Continental Congress was a compact among the colonies to boycott British goods

    This was the kick off of the Revolutionary War. The Lexington and Concord battles were important because they effectively led the Patriot colonists and British forces into the American Revolutionary War.

    The American patriots were defeated at the Battle of Bunker Hill, but they proved they could hold their own against the superior British Army. The fight confirmed that any reconciliation between England and her American colonies was no longer there

    The 1775 Olive Branch Petition was the colonists' last ditch effort to make peace with the British king and avoid a war between Britain and the colonies.

    This was a pamphlet convincing Americans colonists to declare independence from colonists. Common Sense made a clear case for independence and directly attacked the political, economic, and ideological obstacles to achieving it.
