Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was a tax imposed on the colonies by Britain that placed a stamp tax on all paper documents in the colonies. The colonists argued that the act was unconstitutional because the colonies had no representation in the British Government. This act was asymmetrical. -

The Battles of Lexington and Concord are better known as "The shot heard round the world." This was the first battle of the revolutionary war. This battle was fought symmetrically. -
Bunker (Breed's) Hill
The battle of bunker hill and breed's hill was a defense of bunker and breed hill by under-equipped colonist militiamen. The battle was ultimately a loss for the colonists due to supplies but the British suffered great casualties. This battle was asymmetrical because of the use of a hill and bunker. -
Common Sense
Common Sense was a pamphlet anonymously published by Thomas Paine advocating a break from Great Britain. This pamphlet was widely read by colonist at the time and was an important motivator for the Revolutionary War. Common Sense was an asymmetrical act. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence is a document ratified July 4th, 1776 declaring the thirteen colonies of Britain as a sovereign country called the United States of America. This was asymmetrical; Great Britain did not proclaim the colonies separate. -

The Battles of Trenton and Princeton were victories won by american troops while at the Valley Forge winter camp. This was the time when Washington Crossed the Delaware. These battles were asymmetrical as a surprise attack. -

The Battle of Saratoga was a costly defeat of the Americans in the first battle and a victory in the second that led to the French recognizing the war. -
Continental Army winters at Valley Forge
In the winter of 1777-1778, the Continental Army wintered at Valley Forge. The camp was short of supplies like food and clothing. This resulted in the death of many soldiers in the camp. During the winter here, the battles of Trenton and Princeton. -
War in the South/Charleston
The war in the south was mainy fought in the battles of Camden, Cowpens, Guilford Courthouse, Yorktown, and skirmishes between loyalist and patriot militias. The seige of Charleston was a major defeat for the Americans, losing 3000 troops in surrender to General Sir Henry Clinton. -
Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown is labeled the most important battle of the Revolutionary War. This was also the last battle of the war. The battle was fought in Yorktown Virginia where the troops of Charles Cornwallis were surrounded by the troops of Washington and the French. This battle lasted three weeks and ended in British surrender.
