    Stamp act
    The stamp act was a law started by the British which forced the colonist to pay taxes on anything with a stamp. Only colonist were forced to follow this law and all money went to Great Britian. Colonist were being treated unfair and were getting upset. This was one of the major events leading up to the Revolutionary War. The British were trying to turn America into Great Britian. Also many colonist were upset that they had no say in there government and couldnt stop this.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a deadly riot that started a brawl between American colonists and some British soldiers. The brawl escalated quickly and became chaotic and deadly. The start of this was caused from many colonists annoyed of British soldiers occupied many cities and were enforcing British tax laws.

    The Boston tea party was when the Sons of liberty attacked a British ship was all of their tea. They dressed as Native Americans and pushed off thousand of pounds of tea. They did this as an action because the British put tax on tea. Everyone during the time had tea, but now it cost more and everyone was upset. Also did this to prove they were their own country.
  • Lexington/ Concord

    Lexington/ Concord
    Was the first battles between the British and Americans started. The British came into Lexington taking civilians guns due to the Boston tea party. Tensions were rising and everyone was unsure of who shot the first shot. The british started attacking and many Americans retreated to Concord where many Americans would come together to fight back against the British and Minute men distracted the british and slowed the british and warned all of the people.
  • Bunker (Breed's) Hill

    Bunker (Breed's) Hill
    Bunker hill was a battle between the British and Patritots in which the patriots lost. It was a major battle due to the Patriots forcing them to retreat 3 times before them winning. Also the Patriots had poor supplies and were low on ammo, while the British had everything ammo supplies and numbers. So this was a major loss that provided hope for Americans with the right supplies they could win the War.

    Common Sense
    Common Sense was pamphlet written by Thomas Paine. It was created for the people and was the last major event that lead to the American Revolution. He explained in the pamphlet all the problems the British were causing including taxation without representation, no say in the government, and how the British were treating them poorly. This was one of the most selling pamphlets in The colonies and everyone heard and agreed with most the points Thomas Paine brought up.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    It was a unanimous vote to go to war with British. It shows pride by Americans and gave them hope to fight and not be under the Kings rule anymore. They were sick of taxes without representation, and British going anywhere they wanted, and not having any say in the government. Also it was very important that a very sick representative for Delaware risked his life to vote on Independence.
  • Battle at Trenton

    Battle at Trenton
    With New York city in the British hands, and the Continental army about to lose the Patriots were worried of some tough losses. Washington struck back with two victories from crossing the Delaware river on Christmas to suprise the British at Trenton. The patriots were inspired to fight from Thomas Paines crisis papers. These victories also boosted Patriots spirits and brought in more recuits in the army.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    Was an attack by the British to plan on attacking Saratoga, and to take over New York. This plan was to divide the Patriots. This battle was very important because the victory convinced France to sign the Treaty of Alliance with the United States. Also France provided many materials and supplies needed to fight back against the Britishh.
  • Continental Army winning at Valley Forge

    Continental Army winning at Valley Forge
    The British was in control of Philadelphia, which was the capital of the United States. That forced the patriots to base at Valley Forge, and suffer from the shortage of food, and supplies. By late may French allies aided the patriots for battle against the red coats by giving them supplies and an army. The British realized they could not hold off the French and Patriots and were forced to retreat out of Philadelphia.
  • War in the South/ Charleston

    War in the South/ Charleston
    The war in the South was the British new strategy to attack the patriots and gain loyalist from the south as they work their way up north. In charleston, Savannah, and Wilmington they British were winning with ease and losing few soldiers. The British were winning all the battles in the south until they got to Yorktown when the war was near the end.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    Yorktown was the last major battle of the war. The Patriots sent a fake attack to the north and made the British send troops to the North and be outnumbered in the South. The patriots surrounded the British in Yorktown and had help from the navy. This forced the British to retreat and an end to the war with a victory for America and they got their independence.
