As Ethan Allen was the leader of the militia "Green Mountain Boys of Vermont" The men crossed Lake Champlain at dawn, surprising and capturing the still-sleeping British garrison at Fort Ticonderoga.

    The British fought against the Americans at Charlestown, Massachusetts.Major General William Howe commanded the colonists. The British lost 286 soldiers and wounded 828. Joseph Warren died during this war.
  • Battle of Trenton

    George Washington led this Battle and his men in the direction to fight. He led his men and army south across the Delaware River to attack a Hessian and British garrison. He imagined a well thought out plan of attack, with his army he had a diversionary force under Colonel John Cadwalader and a blocking move by General James Ewing’s 700 men At the end of this battle nearly the entire Hessian force was captured, with negligible losses to the Americans.

    This battle took place in New York and lasted from September 19 through October 7th of 1777. One American soldier declared, "It was a glorious sight to see the haughty Britons march out & surrender their arms to an army which but a little before they despised and called paltroons."This success of the Battle of Saratoga gave France the confidence in the American cause to enter the war as an American ALLY.
