Colonist were harassing British troops in Boston in 1770 and things were getting more violent and then British troops opened fire into a crowd of people killing some. -
Intolerable acts
The British parliament passed the Coercive Acts in 1774 which targeted the colonies as a result of the Boston Tea Party. -
Declaration of Independence
The continental congress signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776 declaring independence from the British meaning the colonies were their own nation and they did so because they wanted to become their own nation and not be ruled. -
The Battle of Saratoga
It was a battle that took place in Saratoga in 1777 between the colonist and British seen as the turning point in the war it happened since the colonist wanted independence. -
The Battle of Yorktown
The continental and French army’s managed to surround General Cornwallis army due to previous fighting and they had him under siege at Yorktown, Virginia he eventually surrendered this took place in 1781. -
The Treaty of Paris
The British and Americans decided to make a treaty to finish the war in 1783 in Paris. -
The end of the Articles of Confederation
The first constitution known as the Articles of Confederation was being thrown out in 1787 for the constitution we have currently because it was weak and didn’t work for United States and it’s citizens.
