the british won battles at Brandywine and Paoli, near philadelphia, later they captured philadelphia forcing the continental congress to flee the area. The british had the advantage of more soldiers and america had the disadvantage of have all the surrounding area captured by britain. -

The Amercicans attacked the british at saratoga and the british thought they were going to get more troops from philidelphia but they were cut off by american forces. the americans also knew the land.it was a major turning point in the war. -
