    The Salem witch Trails was a time period where people where getting accused of witchcraft, and being witches. Their punishment was ether confess and be "reborn" again and basically washed away the witch away, or to be executed.

    Natives Myths
    Through out the time period of the native Americans they told stories, they never wrote them down or anything. They were past down orally, told from generations to generations. In the stories that are told they use metaphors a lot. Along with the stories being about nature, and the cycle of life. The sky tree is a great example of the Natives myths.

    The Natives where living in America before it was found, before the Europeans settled it. By the Time the settlers got to the Americas there was already 2,000 tribes speaking 500 languages. The Natives had there way of life before the settlers. They had "peace", they had the chief which was their leader, their land.

    The Sky tree was a Native Myth, that was passed down orally. The Sky Tree was a stories that told the story of rebirth, and that life happens after something bad. It also similar to the bible, the story first starts off with " In the beginning ....", just like the bible.

    In the Puritanism time, they did a lot of harm, they killed "witches", and made everyone worried. They believed that they had to follow God's word to everything, no exception. They believed that everyone sins, and they should be punished. Their writing style is very simple so that people can understand.

    The Puritans first came to Plymouth, MA. The Puritan belief was that they should own the land, along with their religious beliefs that they were choose to make sure that everyone followed the scripture. Their type of writing was simple, not confusing, and small sentences. They wrote like this so everyone could understand, what they were trying to get across.

    Ann Bradstreet's house burned down, which in turn she wrote the poem "Here Follow Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House, July 10, 1666." Her house brunt down, and she blamed it on God, and asked why her. Her tone in the poem was very angry, sad, and confused. She couldn't understand why, but at the end she basically says everything happens for a reason, that she didn't know why but their is a reason that God did this.

    The French Revolution brought the end to the monarchy, which lead to equality and liberty. This brought the peak of romanticism by showing individualism that everyone wanted. Romanticism was greatly effect by this and it produced great works.

    Holmes was a poet during the romanticism time period also. Holmes was a writer that wrote the poem "The Chambered Nautilus". In his poems his used extend metaphors, along with allusion. His style of writing was apostrophe. This poem talked about the nautilus as a romantic creature on spiral adventure. Along with how the nautilus moves through its “shining archway” and “ built up its idle door”, when he outgrows his shell.

    Walt Whitman was one of the best poets during this time period, he was recognized for it, along with him being one of the most influential people during his time. This poem was one of his most famous works.Whitman talks about the jobs that are happening, along with showing diversity between people is there, and that people have different jobs and with these jobs comes the character of Americans and it shows they are all different but at the same type they come together.

    Emily Dickinson was the also one of the greatest writers during her time, but wasn't recognized it till later in time. Emily wrote her poems in her own way, she did it where is was different. "I heard a Fly buzz when I died" was one of my favorites she wrote. It was what she have saw when someone in her family died, and what she thinks after seeing someone died and their reactions will be the same reactions when she will die. Dickinson tone in most of her poems where very sad, and serious.

    Abraham Lincoln did a lot during the realism time period. The Gettysburg Address states the Value of Freedom, by stating “ A new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal”. Then there was Emancipation Proclamation, which basically stated where he stood and the Government. “That the Executive will, on the first day of January aforesaid, by proclamation…...Now, therefore I, Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States”.

    Realism was a type of writing that happened in 1864. Realism is the style of focusing on what's going on in the time period. The writers wrote about what was going on in the world, and what/how they feel about it.

    Longfellow was a writer in the age of romanticism. He was a genius, spoke 11 languages, and read 18. He used personifications in his poems. In the poem he uses personification by “ the curlew calls” . The poem is about a traveler at the beach, he leaves and his footprints are washed away like he was never there. Representing that he didn't make any impact with him being there, because at the end it was like he was never there at all.

    Robert Frost is one of the best poets during the modernism time period. He wrote many poems such as "out,out--", "Nothing Gold Can Stay”, and “Acquainted with the Night”. My personal favorite is “Acquainted with the Night”, because it has very good imagery, and you can tell his mood for the poem. In the poem his uses word that make you image it for real, and it makes you feel as you were there, and in it because when you read it you do.

The story is basically about the Proctors, and them being accused of being witches, or helping the witches/knowing about them. Along with the other characters in the book being accused of witch craft.
