United States becomes a Country!
On July 4th, 1776, the United States becomes a country. This is important because after the US becomes a Country the age of Imperialism can start. The age of Imperialism officially starts in 1898. -
Annexation of Puerto Rico
The United States annexed Puerto Rico, officially making it a United States territory. This territory is still currently part of the US today. This is important because it gave the US a military advantage closer to Cuba and Latin American country's. This is especially important after the Spanish-American War. -
Sinking of the USS Maine
The USS Maine was a battleship that belonged to the US Navy. During the age of yellow journalism, reporters said that the attacked belonged to Spain as this was during the Spanish American war. This is important because 268 soldiers were killed in the sinking as well as leading up to the Spanish-Amercian War. -
Annexation of Guam
The United States annexed Guam alongside Puerto Rico following the Spanish-American War. The officially made Guam a United States territory, that still is today. I believe that this is Important because it gives the US a huge military advantage in Western countries such as Asia. -
Annexation of the Philippines
The US annexed the philippines in 1898 with Guam and Puerto following the Spanish-American war. This made it officially a US tertory. Unfortunately, the US only held controlled of these islands until 1946 when the Philippine-American War had the Philippines gain their independence. -

The Philippine-American War was fought in the asian country of the Philippines. This war was fought to gain the independence of filipinos. They successfully won the was against the United States in 1902. This is important because the United States no longer will maintain connections and the Philippian tetoey of the United States. -

The Platt Admement was a treaty between the US and Cuba that allowed the United States to intervene to keep the United States safe as well as keeping Cuba independent. This is important because the US wants to keep countries independent as long as possible -
Panama Canel Zone
The Panama canal zone was an area in Panama where their laies a Camel. This Canel is a place where ships can pass through making easier access from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Before the Canel, Ships must go south and around south America. This is important becuase the US imperialized this land to help Panama gain independence from Colombia. -
WWI Begins
WWI Begins in the summer of 1914 as a global conflict. This is important because this conflict is a global war that involves many nations in the allies as well as the central powers. The US ends up joining the war in 1917 as they has the last straw with the Zimmerman telegram -

The First World War lasted shortly over 4 years. The world stopped fighting on the 11th hour of the 11th day, of the 11th month in the year 1918. This is important because this war was known to have peace as it was known as "the war to end all wars" and establish a connections between countries. -
The Alaska Purchase
Alaska became a U.S state on January 3rd, 1959; becoming the 49th state after bought for 7.2 million dollars. This is important because we had purchased this territory from Russia at a super cheap price of 7.2 million that gave us many new resources. Alaska is 665,400 sq. mi. That is 9 cents per square mile. -
Annexation of Hawaii
The US had overthrown the Hawaiian monarch Lukullani, claiming the 109,000 citizens as part of the United States, acquiring it as the 50th state. This is important because it gives us resources closer to Asian countries giving us a military advantage.
