The first people to make it to North America. There is not much information on this, but people migrated from all over into the Americas. -

Christopher Columbus Lands
Christopher Columbus and his men land In the Americas. This began the Columbian Exchange, and ended in the murder of over a thousand natives. -

The act of Americans moving westward across the country. They founded towns, farmland, and met many new people along the way. -

Colonists antagonize British troops when they appear in the colonies. What started as a harmless standoff ended with eh British firing upon the colonists. There were casualties from both sides. -
Boston Tea Party
Citizens of the colonies act up because of all the laws the Brittish were applying on them. The tax on goods such as tea created the Boston Tea Party, where Bostonians dressed as Natives stormed the boats and threw the tea over. -

The Compromise of 1850 was the North and South's attempts to kept the nation together. The north allowed slavery in some sates but did not allow new states. The south was still unhappy, and the compromise fell apart. -
Dred Scott Decision
The Dred Scott Decision was the decision made by the Supreme Court no not let an African American slave and his family be set free after they were moved form a slave state into a free state and back again. The family was eventually set free, but not because fo the court ruling. -

Dred Scott was an African-American slave. Him and his family were taken from a slave state into a free state, then back into a slave state. HE said that he deserved to be free, as he was once in a free state. It took a long time before the Supreme Court decided he was not free. However, him and his family were bought and given their freedom. -

The Election of 1860 was between Lincoln, Bell, Douglas and Breckenridge. Lincoln won the election with 180 electoral votes, his first time in office. -

Frederick Douglass was an African-American slave who was also a social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman. He was one of the most important African-American leaders in history.
