    (UNIT 1) 1754-1763. England colonies agains France and the Indians. Fought for control over the Ohio River. The British were successful and the Treaty of Paris 1763 and the Proclaimation of 1763 resulted in this war.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    (UNIT 2 PT. 1) The signing of The Declaration of Independece. Writtne by Thomas Jefferson. It inspired the colonist to fight for freedom from England. it became the foundation for a new American government that guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

    Treaty of Paris, 1783
    (UNIT 2 PT. 1) British and Americans sign official peace agreement. U.S. wins independece from Great Britain and Great Britain surrenders Florida to Spain. African and Caribbean Islands went to France.

    (UNIT 2 PT. 2) Nations first foreign policy statement. Political systems seperated between America and Europe. The U.S. would not interfere in Europe governments or exsisting colonies.

    (UNIT 2 PT. 2) Recognized the Rio Grande as the boundary between the U.S. and Mexico. It increased U.S. territory by 1/3.

    (UNIT 4) Laws passed to ease slavery. New Mexico would be establised by carving borders from Texas. New Mexicao voters would determine whether the state would permit ot prohibit the practice of slavery. California would be admitted to the Union as a free state. All citizen were required to return run away slaves and slave trade in the District of Columbia is abolished.

    (UNIT 8) A turning point during WWII. Japan nations after U.S. cargo and ships making it a moral victory for the U.S. Navy.
  • Brown V. The Board of Education

    Brown V. The Board of Education
    (UNIT 10) Argument over the seperation of races in public schools. Seperation of the races was not constitutional and overturned Plessy v. Ferguson. Violation of the 14th amendment. This ruling paved the way for integration and the civil rights movement.

    (UNIT 9) Soviets launched the 1st satellite the size of a beach ball. It took 98 minutes to orbit the earth. It started the "Space Race" between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

    (UNIT 9) Soviet goal was to prevent U.S. planned invasion by allowing Cubans to use missiles. Kennedy blockaded Cuba and threatened to invade unless the soviets removed their missiles. Soviets agreed as long as the U.S. removed their missiles from Turkey.

    (UNIT 10) Outlawed the requirment for voters in the U.S. to take a literacy test to register to vote, because it was unfair.
