    The Election of 1800
    In the Election of 1800, the contestants were Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. John Adams gained 65 votes, and Thomas Jefferson gained 73. So at the end of the election, Thomas Jefferson won.
  • Marbury v.s. Madison Case

    Marbury v.s. Madison Case
    This case established the Judicial Review, which gives the court the power to decide if some acts Congress are unconstitutional or not. This gives the Judicial Branch more power.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    What happened was that Napoleon wanted a system of colonies and at first he put a colony in Haiti for supplies, but after an uprising with black slaves. After that, he didn't want to colonize anywhere, so when the U.S. asked for New Orleans he gave them the whole Louisiana territory.
  • The Lewis and Clark Expedition

    The Lewis and Clark Expedition
    Thomas Jefferson told Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the Louisiana Purchase and find a practical route. They needed to report everything from soil, plants, weather, natives, and animals. Lewis and Clark also met Sacajawea which helped them a lot with directions, finding eatable fruits and veggies, and translation.

    Zebulon Pike was ordered by Thomas Jefferson to follow the Red River. Little did he know that he walked past Spanish boundaries. He got arrested for the Spanish thought he was a spy. He was released on July first, 1807.

    This act had the U.S. not trade with anyone. This was done to punish France and Britain because of British ships impressing U.S. sailors and restricting U.S. trade with anyone. Instead it didn't hurt anyone except the U.S.

    It was a replacement for the Embargo Act for it's failure. What it does is refuse trade with only France and Britain. This act was still a failure.
  • Battle of Tippecanoe

    Battle of Tippecanoe
    Tecumseh, a native american, had an idea to unite the natives to fight back settlers. In this battle, the British helped the Indians fight against the U.S. The U.S. remained victorious.
  • Declaration of War

    Declaration of War
    After all the neutrality attacks, all the British had done to us, Congress decided to vote. At the end, Warhawks won for declaring war. This was the first time Congress declared war, the war started in 1812.
  • Battle of Lake Erie

    Battle of Lake Erie
    The Battle of Lake Erie gave us Lake Erie. When the British surrendered in the battle, it gave us citizens hope. A quote from Oliver Hazard Perry, "We have met the enemy and they are ours.".
  • Treaty of Ghent

    Treaty of Ghent
    The Treaty of Ghent ended the War of 1812. Though it didn't do much, spurred nationalism over the United States's victory.
  • Adams-Onis Treaty

    There was much complications between the Spanish border and the U.S. border. This treaty settled disputes between the Spanish and U.S. borders, though in exchange Spain gave us Florida.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    Monroe Doctrine
    James Monroe gave us the idea of the Monroe Doctrine. The Monroe Doctrine gives us these principles; the U.S. should not interfere with European nations, the U.S. should not interfere with colonize that already existed, the Western Hemisphere is closed off to Europe. If a European nation enters the Western Hemisphere, it is an act of violence of neutrality.

    When John Quincy Adams won against Jackson, Jackson voters spread a rumor of a Corrupt Bargain. Also Jackson won popular vote.
  • Erie Canal

    Erie Canal
    The Erie Canal is a canal that was built in 1825, ran from Albany to Buffalo, and it costed millions. The canal made traveling and trading easier. Fun fact: did you know that the Erie Canal had to be dug by hand?
