Lexington and Concord
British general, General Gage, wanted to march to the towns Lexington and Concord to capture Sam Adams, John Hancock, and get a large amount of gunpowder. When people heard of his plan, men such as Paul Revere, Willaim Dawes, and Samuel Prescott warned the minute men the the British were coming! Later, at Lexington about 70 minutemen atacked the 240 British soldiers but lost and the British advanced to Concord.

Battle of Bunker Hill
On June 16, 1775, 2,200 British commanded by William Howe and Robert Pigot were on Breed’s Hill while the British advanced on them. The Americans had little gunpowder so he commanded, “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes!” The Americans then forced the British back three times before they ran out of amunition and were forced to retreat.

Invasion of New York
After the British left Boston they stayed in Canada for a while before attacking again at New York. George Washington put General Stirling and his men near New York, but General Stirling and some men were captured. Luckly, in the early morning fog, George Wachington and the 9,000 solders were able to sail to Manhattan safely.

Battle of Trenton
On Christmas Eve, Washington and his men crossed the Delaware River in order to have a suprise atack on the Hessians. The attack turned out to be a success becausae the Hessian army was taken completely by surpise. When the battle ended, the Hessians were scattered and there were little casualities for the American army.

Battle of Saratoga
Washington and his men on October 17, 1777 forced several thousand men fighting for the British to surrender. This was General John Burgoyne army and this battle stopped him from getting renforcements and crushing Washington's arme once and for all. The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point in the war for the Americans, and the point where France desides to help the Americans win the war against the British.

Valley Forge
Valley Forge is the winter camp of Washington's army. His men stayed for six months, and faced sickness and a lack of food, water, and shelter. Because so many of his men were dying of disease, Washington ordered all members of his army vaccinated. Washington also found a man named Wilhelm Von Steuben who helped train the men to fight better in battles.

Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was the last battle in the Revolutionary War. General Lord Charles Cornwallis and his 9,000 men had were trapped between the American army, led by Washington, and the French Navy. When the British finally surrendered, they refused to acknowledge the Americans and tried to only look at the French.

Treaty of Paris
The treaty of Paris officially ended the Revolutionary War for the British, Americans, and French. Some people that were there were John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, and Henry Laurens. The picture to the left was created during the actual signing, but the British were not willing to have their picture painted and left before the picture was finished.
