Executive Order 9981 was executed by President Harry Truman to end racial abuse in America. It finally created a law that banned racial abuse and inequality showing that the blacks were finally being treated fairly. -

Bus Boycott
This is the bus that Rosa Parks was on and what started the Bus Boycott. Blacks were supposed to sit at the back of the bus and they were required to move from the seat to make room for whites. The Bus Boycott started when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man. The bus boycott ended on the 20th of December 1956 -
Little Rock Nine
The Governor of Arkansas called out for the National Guard to help bring the nine African-American students to Little Rock High School without being physically harassed by white Americans.. -
March on Washington
Thousands of Americans marched to Washington to try to get rid of Segregation throughout America. -
I Have A Dream
The day after the March on Washington, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr delivered his speech asking for equal rights and to get rid of segregation forever. -
The Civil Rights Act of 1964
President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights act that stated that banned discrimination based in color, race, religion, sex or national origin. -
Malcolm X Assassination
Just before Malcolm was going to start a seminar someone in the audience yelled "Nigga, get your hand out of my pocket!". The man then rushed at Malcolm and shot him once in the chest with a sawed-off shotgun. The picture shows the backdrop with circles showing where the bullet-holes are. -
Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr
After Martin Luther King Jr delivered his "I've been to the mountaintop" speech on April 3rd he was then assassinated the day after this sparked riots and then Coretta King led marches through the streets holding signs saying "Honour King, End Racism". -

When Barack Obama was elected it showed that the whole journey that the black people had taken had been worth something because America finally elected a black president.
