11th Amendment
Makes states immune from suits from out od state citizens and foreigners not living within the state borders. It was adopted in order to orerrule the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in 19793. It was ratified by 12 of the 15 states. -
12th Amendment
12th AmendmentIt revised presidential election procedures. The president and vice president are voted on by electors. Hte number of elecotors in each state is equal to the number of members of congress to which the state is entitled. -
13th Amendment
Gets rid of slavery and involuntary servitude except for a punishment of a crime. It was the first of the three reconstruction amendments after the civil war. The amendment also enables congress to pass laws against sex trafficking and other forms of modern slavery. -
15th Amendment
15the AmendmentProhibits the denial of the right to vote based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude. It was the third and last of the Reconstruction Amendments. It came after the Civil War. -
16th Amendment
16th AmendmentPermits Congress to levy an income tax without apportioning it among the states or basing it on the U.S. Census. The congress will have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes. It was most popular in the the south and west states. -
17th Amendment
Establishes the direct election of US Senators by popular vote. It went over part of the constitution where it said teh senators were elected by state legislators. It also altered the procedure for filling vacancies in the Senate. -
18th Amendment
Porhibited the manfacturing or sale of alcohol. It was repealed in 1933. Everyons still made and sold alcohol so they repealed it. -
19th Amendment
Prohibits the denial of the right to vote based on sex. It let the women vore for the first time in US history. Still remembered as one of teh most important amendments. -
20th Amendment
20th AmendmentChanges the date on which the President, Vice President, Senators,and Representives end and begin. The President and Vice President dates changed from March 4 to January 20. Congress dates changed from March 4 to January 3. -
21st Amendment
It repealed the 18th amendment. It also prohitbits the transportation or importation of alcohol into the US. The 18th amendment did not work so they decided to repeal it. -
22nd Amendment
Limits the number of times a person can be elected president. A person cannot be elected president more than twice. A person that has served more than two years of a term in which someone else was elected cannot be elected more than once. -
23rd Amendment
It granted the District of Colombia electors in the electoral college. The president and vice president are chosen by electors. Electors are voted on by the state. -
25th Amendment
Addresses the succession to the Presidency and establishes procedures for filling a vacancy in teh off of the Vice President and responding to Presidential disabilities. With Kennedys assassanition we needed someone to take over. If the Vice President takes over they can appoint a new Vice President. -
26th Amendment
Prohibits teh denial of US citizens , eighteen or older, to vote on account of age. You used to have to be 21 years old to vote in teh US. It was the quickest amendment to be ratified. -
27th Amendment
It delays laws affecting congressional salary from taking affect until after the next election. It is the most recent amendment. It took 202 years for it to pass.
