Amelia regoins her parents in Des Moines, Iowa. She also sees her first plane and later recalls being unimpressed.

Hard Times

Amelia's grandmother who helped raise her dies, the family moves to Minnesota but her mom ends up getting divorced and moving again with Amelia and her sister. Her dad struggles against alcholism and finding work.

After proposing to Amelia 6 times Earhart finally agrees to marry George P. Putnam. She refers to their marrige as "a partnership" with "dual control".

Amelia flies

Amelia is the first person, and female, to fly solo from Honolulu, Hawaii to Oakland, California.
