Germany could not maintain in France any longer, because of the Breakout of the Allied Forces from Normandy.
Underground French resistance movement in Paris staged an uprising against the German occupiers, leading Hitler to issue an order to General Dietrich von Choltitz, to burn the city to the ground. But instead he concluded a truce with the Rebels.
and two days later, when U.S. and French forces reached the city, he quietly surrendered after some initial token resistance. -

The Germans planned a counterattack.
They went though the Ardennes, and through mid-December they were deep into the Allied Territorium.
Meanwhile a big U.S. force remained cut off and surrounded in the town of Bastogne. -

Hitler made up a defense wall around the city and would lead the fight from a bunker deep beneath Berlin.
Russian Tanks penetraed the cit limits of Berlin.
After nearly two weeks of intensive street fighting the Germans doggedly held on to every building and city block.
Hitler promised that he would stay in the city till the end of the fight, but after the Soviet Army took over the Heart of the Capital he commited Suicide.
