At the very beginning of the book, the thing which Socs bullied Ponyboy indicated the blasting fuse of the whole thing, which is the differences between two social classes, greasers and Socs. Thus, this event setted a stage for the development of the storyplot, which means this event is the main social relationship background. Therefore, this event is essential. -
Meet in the cinema
The socs and greasers met in the cinema, which is the essential cause of whole things; otherwise, Ponyboy and Cherry would not talk about sunset. With it, a special relationship which means Ponyboy and Cherry helped and understood each other would not be established. Besides, just because they had a good talking time in the cinema, Bob misunderstood that, which caused the tragedy happened. Therefore, cinema is an indispensable factor. -
First time talk about sunset
Ponyboy talking about sunset with Cherry laid the fundation of their mutual trust. Just because of this, Ponyboy changed his perspective towards socs group, which means not all the socs are bad guys, and so did Cherry. -
Ponyboy came back home late
That night, Ponyboy came back home late, which even made Darry hit Ponyboy first time. This forced Ponyboy escaped from home, which made Darry felt guilty and valued the emotion between himself and Ponyboy. In addition, if Ponyboy arrived home on time, he would not meet Bob; therefore, the tragedy would not happen as well. Thus, this was a significant event. -
Bob died
The first person who died in the book was Bob. Bob's death aroused Randy to be nice and kind. It changed Randy's personalities. Besides, Johnny and Ponyboy learned a lot from Bob's death, which means they began to bear their own responsibilities and obligations. In addition, Bob's death is kind of the blasting fuse of the rumble. Therefore, his death played an important part of the storyplot. -
Ponyboy and Johnny have their hair dyed
The greasers' hair was the stuff that they were proud of, and they never allows people to touch their hair. However, in case of being arrested by the cops， they made a compromise, which means they not only have their hair cut but also have their hair dyed. This indicated their growth, a mental growth. -
The first time read the poem "Gone with the Wind"
After Pony reciting the poem in the church, Johnny was inspired by the poem, which courage him to be a nice person. Just because of this, Johnny finally realized that fighting and rumble would make no sense. In this case, Johnny's transform of his personality cannot be without the poem. -
Church fire
Church fire is just like a turning point for the greasers. This is because the greasers' happiness life was not perfect anymore since Johnny 's death. Besides, in the church fire, Johnny, Pony and Dally's brave behavior shows their bravery and kindness to the public, which means there were still some nice greasers. Therefore, this event is significant. -
Ponyboy talked to Randy
Pony talked to Randy, and they made an agreement. This was the first time that socs and greasers reached an agreement, which is significant. In addition, after their talking, both of them changed their attitude towards each other, and even the talking changed their perspective towards social class, equity and value. -
Purchasing poem
Johnny told Pony to buy a poem, but sodapop bought the poem finally. I think it is important because Johnny believed that the poem can made Dally become a good man after finishing the poem. If Dally still be a bad man, his life will be in danger, so Johnny hoped that poem can help Dally. -
Rumble
The greasers and socs fought with each other in a park. The greasers did it for Johnny and themselves. This rumble is essential because it is a war of honor. It decided socs' face and greasers' face. Therefore, the rumble is important. -
Johnny's death
Johnny died in the hospital. Johnny's dead affected Dally so much because they had very deep relationship with each other, but Johnny has died.Dally was so sad and angry, so he robbed the store, at last he was killed by the police. -
Brave behavior on the newspaper
The greasers' brave behavior was reported on the newspaper, which showed their brave and kind personalities to the public. The masses could aware that not all the greasers were bad, and there were some are good. Besides, this event even changed Socs' attitude towards greasers. -
Dally's death
Dally died in the park by the police. Dally's dead affected pony... he final realise everything that he did are wrong. He knew that he should be a good man instead of continuing doing wrong things. -
Randy visited Ponyboy, and Ponyboy still didn't want to admit Johnny's death.
This proved that Pony had very deep relationship with Johnny. Although Johnny had died, Pony still could not believe the truth. -
Johnny's letter
Pony found a letter by Johnny. This is very important because Johnny wanted to tell them don't be sad so much if he died, and he hoped them can became good person,. His words has important effects for the greasers. -
Relationship got much more better
Pony, sodapop, Darry, their relationship became much better than before, a really family. This event makes their lives more interesting, meaningful instead of the disordered past lives. Here is also a turning point, the symbol of new life. -
Last sentence
The last several sentences are connected with the beginning of the several sentences. The writer did it in order to make the novel looks like a really event, so I think this is also very important. -
Smashing the bottle
Pony picked a piece of the glass, and pretended to frighten the people of the socs. This proved that Pony has became a really man, a touch man, not weak anymore after experiencing so many events. This is a very important turning point.
