Linus Yale Jr. invented the Cylinder Pin-Tumbler Lock in 1865. He had invented it within Shelburne , Massachusetts . The Pin Tumbler lock is used by inserting a specific flat key that will push the tumblers up so you can turn the key to slide the bolt out of the lock to unlock the door. -
