Mussolini conquest of ethiopia
Fascist Italy invades, conquers, and annexes Ethiopia. Italian troops pushed back the weak Ethiopian army, defeating them near Lake Ascianghi on April 9, 1936. Then the next month on May 5, 1936 they took over Ethiopias capital. Dictator Mussolini then made Italy's king emperor of Ethiopia. -
Franco takes over Madrid
The Spanish Civil War was a major conflict fought in Spain from 17 July 1936 to 1 April 1939. Francisco Franco took over Madrid then ended the war a few days later and was the dictator of the country. He then ruled until 1975 when he died. He died November 22 of 1975 of heart failure. -
Munich Agreement
Nevillle Chamberlain and Hitler meet at Hitler's house. Hitler threatens to try to take over the Czech if Britain doesn't support Germany's plan to over take the Sudetenland. -
HItler invades poland
It took Hitler and his Nazis less than a month to overun Poland. He used the newly adopted technique of "blitzkrieg" or lightning war to accomplish this task. It is a three pronged attack with planes bombing first, followed by tanks and artillery, next, and finally ground troops attack.
