  • Rape of Nanking

    Rape of Nanking
    In late 1937, a Japanese army led by General Matsui Iwane planed to loot and destroy the city of Nanjing. His army burned at least one third of the city, killed more than 200,000 people, and raped up to 80,000 women. Soon after the war ended Matsui and his lieutenant Tani Hisao were executed for war crimes by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East.

    German Blitzkreig

    The use of this tactic is to have a sufficient war that results in short military campaigns. This is a mobile force with fire power and successful execution style. Germans first used this tactic in Poland but it did not successfully work until they invaded Belgium.

    In 1939, the leader of Germany's army, Adolf Hitler sent 1.3 million Germans to invade Poland. Hitler claimed this attack was a defensive action but, Britain and France did not think so. Shortly after this attack, Britain and France declared war on Germany starting WW2.

    President Roosevelt decided to send material aid to Paris. Paris needed resources and/or help because Germany invaded Paris unexpectedly. Soon after this America joined in the war to help their allies.

    Hundreds of Japanese fighter planes descended on base killing 2,400 Americans. Destroying 20 navel vessels, 8 battle ships and over 300 airplanes. Japan believed the only way to solve economic issues was to expand neighboring territory. Soon after this attack America joined WW2.

    156,000 Americans, British, and Canadians forces landed on 5 beaches on the coast of Normandy. Begging and end of war in Europe. Allies defeated Germany.

    Adolf Hitler planed a blitzkrieg on Americans, George S. successful maneuver neutralized Germans despite many casualties. Brought end to Nazi reign. Americans were pushing through defensive line causing battle of bulge.

    Needed base near Japanese coast. Large engagement in war Allies lost more casualties than Japan counterparts. Air fields shut down because Americans won.

    Great Britain and the United States celebrated their victory on this day. VE day is celebrated everywhere in the United States each year. This day marks the surrender of its armed forces by the German Nazis.

    Battle of Okinawa was apart of the 3 part plan for america to win the war. Caused largest casualties, 100,000 Japanese and 50,000 Americans. America won battle

    The United states dropped an atomic bomb in the city of Hiroshima, Japan. Enola Gay dropped the 5-ton bomb in Japan because too many American casualties would occur if they were to attack with men. Many believe this is was kick started the cold war.

    On this day, Japan had unconditionally surrendered to the Allies effectively ending WW2. Japan surrendered due to increasing casualties and significant damage to their country. Now, this day is celebrated throughout America even though it has become more uncommon.
