Aleksandra was born. -
Family
Aleksandra married Vladimir Kollontai the year before and in 1894, she gave birth to her son Mikhail. Three years later, she left her family to pursue her career as a revolutionary. -
Attended the University of Zurich
She went to study labor history and later Communism and Marxism. -
Membership to the Russian Social Democratic Party
At age 27, she became a member of the Russian Social Democratic Party. -
Publishing
Starting in 1903, Aleksandra started writing and publishing numerous articles spreading Communism and inspiring for a revolution. She continued to do this for the rest of her life. -
Lenin
Lenin begs for Aleksandra Kollontai to support the Bolsheviks and write for them. She officially then joined the Bolshevik party. -
Society for Mutual Aid to Women Workers
In 1907, Kollontai set up the Society for Mutual Aid to Women Workers, an organization in St. Petersburg that benefited the working class women. -
Exile
After publishing "Finland and Socialism" (a piece that inspired for Finnish workers to rise against the oppression of the Russian empire). Aleksandra went to Germany in exile, but then travelled all across Europe spreading her ideas. In 1917, she returned to Russia from Norway after the abdicatation of the Tsar.
