Albert Schweitzer is born in gunsbach, Alsace--which is bordering France and Germany -
Heading off to Africa
Albert and Helene are assigned to a hospital in Lambarene -
WWI begins
World War I caused bad things to happen to Albert. He was interned as an enemy alien and he and Helene were forced to stay in a monastery in the Pyrenees Mountains, where Helene becomes sick and spends the rest of her life in weakness. -
WWI ends
World War 1 ends and Albert and his wife were free to go back to Lambarene -
Rena is born
His only child, Rena, is born. -
Returning to Africa
He returned to his former clinic (his wife and new born daughter stayed behind due to health reasons) and found it in ruins. He builds a new hospital on different land. -
Geman economy collapses
The German economy collasped , causing Albert to loose funds for his clinic -
WWII begins
Helene and Rhena join him back in Africa due to the dangers Europe now faced. -
Helene dies
Helene dies in Switzerland at age 78 and is later buried in Lambarene. -
Albert dies
He had spent the last six years of his life in the town where his wife had been burried in 1957. Albert was a great man who believed in many causes and always gave his all to do the right thing.
