Albert Einstein

  • Albert Einstein is born

Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany
  • Discovery of e=mc^2

At just the age of 26, Albert Einstein published his theory on the relationship of mass and energy. Described by him as "If a body gives off the energy L in the form of radiation, its mass diminishes by L/V^2" ("Discovery of E=mc2."). Which when expressed as a mathematical expression is L/V^2=M. He later rearraged the formula and changed 2 of the variables to give the more well known form of the equation E=MC^2.
  • Albert Einstein wins the Nobel prize for physics

Einstein won for his remarkable contributions to the physics community with both his theories of relativity and his work on the photoelectric effect. Upon recieving the award, it was said that "There is probably no physicist living today whose name has become so widely known as that of Albert Einstein" by Professor S. Arrhenius, Chairman of the Nobel Committee for Physics of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences ("Nobel Prize in Physics 1921 - Presentation Speech").
  • First controlled nuclear chain reaction

This was a major step towards developing the nuclear bomb, and would not have been possible without Einstein's work. Einstein forsaw this development coming as early as 1939 in his letter to FDR he said, "it may become possible to set up a nuclear chain reaction in a large mass of uranium, by which vast amounts of power and large quantities of new radium like elements would be generated. Now it appears almost certain that this could be achieved in the immediate future" (Einstein, Albert).
  • Albert Einstein died at age 76

  • Einstien named the person of the century

Einstien named the person of the century
Time magazine named Einstein person of the century which is a very big accomplishment because there has only ever been one person of the century.
