Hermann Einstein Dies/ Einstein Marries
While at school in Zurich, Einstein met his future wife, Milena Maric, a Serbian physics student. Due to Maric's ethnic background, Einstein's parents were strongly against their relationship, but in 1902 Einstein's father died from congestive heart failure, and the couple were able to get married (Albert Einstein). -
Proposed the Equation E=MC2
In 1905 in his paper, “On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies,” Einstein proposed one of the best known equation in the scientific world. He proposed the equation E=MC2. Energy of a body (E)= Mass of that body (M) x speed of light squared (C2).This equation stated that tiny particles of matter could be converted into huge amounts of energy. This discovery is the base of atomic power (Albert Einstein). -
The Titanic Sinks
The Titanic was an "unsinkable" British steamship that was supposed to carry 2,240 passengers from Southampton to New York. Along the way in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the Titanic hit an iceberg and in the early morning of April 15, the Titanic sank. More than 1,500 passengers and crew lost their lives (Ballard). -

The Central Powers who were Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire fought against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States who were the Allied Powers (World War 1). -
Einstein Completed the General Theory of Relativity
In 1915, Einstein completed, what he considered to be the highest point of his life research. Einstein finished his General Theory of Relativity which states that what we think of as the force of gravity actually comes from the curvature of space and time. Einstein's theory was confirmed in 1919 by observations and measurements by Sir Frank Dyson and Sir Arthur Eddington during the 1919 solar eclipse (Albert Einstein). -
Einstein and Maric Divorced
Einstein and Maric's marriage was not a happy one and in 1919 they got a divorce. Maric had an emotional breakdown in connection the the divorce, Einstein, as part of the divorce, would give any money he received from possibly winning the Nobel Prize in the future to her. Throughout their marriage Einstein had been having an affair with his cousin, Elsa Löwenthal and in 1919 they got married. -

First it was known as the American Professional Football Association and later in 1922, renamed the National Football League. The first president of the league was Jim Thorpe (NFL Founded in Canton). -
Einstein won the Nobel Prize for Physics
In 1921, Albert Einstein won the Nobel Prize for Physics, but not for his theory of relativity. It was his explanation of photoelectric effect and because his ideas on relativity were still questionable, he didn't win it for his theory of relativity. He didn't actually get the award until the following year due to a bureaucratic ruling. During his speech, he still talked about relativity (Albert Einstein). -
Einstein Took a Job at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton
In 1933, Einstein took on a position at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, New Jersey. There he would spend the rest of his life working on a unified field theory. A unified field theory is an all-embracing paradigm, that is supposed to unify the varied laws of physics (Albert Einstein). -
New York Giants Win the World Series
In 1933, the New York Giants won the 1933 World Series against the Washington Senators 4-1. The New York Giants won the first two games and lost the third game, 4-0 against the senators. The Giants then went on to win the next two games 2-1 and 4-3 (Grun). -
