    Family Dog
Mike (age 13) decides he wants to take care of the family dog. He wants the responsibility of scheduling feeding times and keeping the dog active with daily walks. This is an example of Erikson’s 4th stage, Industry vs. Inferiority. This stage shows us that children mature and their level of self-awareness increases. They begin to understand logical reasoning and scientific facts. Children will also become more competitive at this stage.

    Marriage
Mike (age 33) and Kyla married based on their decision to share their lives together. Doing this in turn will blend who they are, i.e. their identities. This is an example of Erikson’s 6th stage. Intimacy vs. Isolation. This stage we find that people start to become worried about finding the correct partner to spend their life with, and if they don’t they will end up living their life alone.

    "Midlife Crisis"
Mike (age 55) decided to quit the job he has worked at for 20 years and finally start his dream career, creating and running a charity devoted to helping the research of multiple sclerosis. This is an example of Erikson’s 7th stage, Generativity vs. Stagnation. Here we find that adults are in there 40’s and 50’s and are finding meaning in their work. At this point in their lives they feel they're be able to contribute something meaningful to society and leave a legacy.
