University Of Pennsylvania
Chomsky begins classes at the University of Pennsylvania where he meets Zellig S. Harris who provided his interest in the study of linguistics. Chomsky eventually earns a Bachelors degree in Linguistics in 1949, a Masters in 1951, and a Doctorate in 1955. Chomsky's Master's thesis was titled "The Morphophonemics of Modern Hebrew." -
Professorship
Chomsky began teaching at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the school's Department of Linguistics & Philosophy until his retirement in 2005. -
Syntactic Structures
Chomsky publishes, “Syntactic Structures”, believing that human beings were born with the ability to understand any language but were influenced in particular languages due to their environment.
