George studied the physics of flight, such as lift and drag, steering rudders...etc. He made and constantly refined the first glider.

Plane
The Wright Brothers flew the first ever plane 120 feet, did not catch on until later though. Advantages:

Helicopter
First helicopter was invented, very unsuccessful. Igor Sikorsky
Advantages:
They can be used for many things like an air ambulance.
They save lives where vehicles can't go.
Disadvantages:
cannot carry many passengers
limited range and fly time. -
Flying Boat
This flying boat, ‘Spruce Goose’ was built of wood by Gabriel Voisin. It only flew once, over a distance of about 2 kilometres. It is the largest plane ever built
Advantages:
They were used in World War II for dropping water on forest fires.
You can land on water.

Jetliner
Early jetliners carried about 40 passengers, and had jet engines with propellers called turbo-prop engines.
Advantages:

more people could fit

Boeing
