Jethro Tull's Seed Drill
In 1701 Jethro Tull created a seed drill which instead of hand planting, dug 3 rows, planted the seeds and then covered them. This resulted in more crops being grown as birds didn't steal the seeds, and it was faster to plant. -

Dutch Four Crop Rotation System
The Dutch Four Crop Rotation System was introduced by Charles Townshend in 1730. It was a process where 3 crops had the normal crops and the 4th had legumes which replenished the field. Before this system, one of the fields was left empty. -

Jethro Tull's seed drill was improved by adding gears. -
1st Plough Factory Opened in England
The first plough factory is opened in England and is able to produce more ploughs for farmers to use. This helps the farmers to be more effective and produce more food for the country. -
Threshing Machine
The threshing machine was invented by Andrew Meikle. It rubbed grain between a metal drum and concave sheet.
Threshing machines are used to separate grain from the stalk so the machines would have been a lot more effective and less time consuming. -
Enclosure Act
Before the Enclosure Act, there were 3 stages to the enclosure process. 1- 3/4 of the landowners had to agree, a petition to parliament was put through and a notice was given. 2- Put through parliament. 3- Legal landowners are given enclosed.
When the act was passed, towns were now able to pass it themselves as long as 3/4 agreed.
