Manchuria was rich with iron and coal. When the Japenese attacked Manchuria it was the first challenge of the League of Nations. After Japan got Manchuria, the League tried protesting but Japan wouldn't listen. -
Italy attacks Ethiopia
Mussolini wanted "revenge" for the 1890 battles fough against Ethopia. The Ethopians this time were no match for Italy' airplanes, guns and tanks Ethopians turned to the League for help, the members did not help Ethopoia. -
Germany occupies Rhineland
Hitler wanted to challenge the Treaty of Versailles, he wanted more land. He took the the Rhineland, area between Germany and France. France didn't want to create another war. Hitler was one step closer to war. -
Japan invades China
Japan swept into China having over then one million soliders. Japan captured Chinese soliders and civilians what is today called "the rape". Japan brutally tortured the Chinese. -
Germany annexes Austria
Strict order in the Treaty of Versailles that wouldn’t let Austria and Germany work together and create an Allie, however, Austria supported the German plans. Adolf Hitler sent his army to annex the country. -
Germany takes Sudetenland
The people of Sudetenland were in favor of Nazism. The Czech’s had control of the Sudetenland. The Munich Conference was held, Germans wanted Sudetenland. France, Great Britain, Italy and Germany were all present at the meeting, as Czechoslovakia was not. The Allied Leaders gave in to Hitler and let him take Sudetenland. -
Germany seizes Czechoslovakia
Less than six months pass, and Hitler takes Czechoslovakia after Hitler promises not to take Czechoslovakia at the Munich Conference. Great Britain and France do nothing once again. -
Italy conquered Albania
Soon after Germany takes Czechoslovakia, Mussolini leader of Italy takes Albania. Great Britain and France were frustrated with Germany and Italy. Great Britain and France turn to the Soviet Union for help.
