My Birth
-
Parents and grandparents
At this time, I was four. I was only influenced by my parents and grandparents. And dinosaur train. -
Mom
My mom is a major agent of socialization in my life because I was homeschool up until 8th so I spent a lot of time around her. She taught me about God and who I am in the world. -
Co-op
Around this time, we started going to co-op every other Tuesday and that’s when I was able to meet other kids and make friends. It’s when I really learned to interact with other kids outside of church. I remembering asking a boy named James to show me how to make a paper hat like the one he was wearing. -
Ivy
We had a circle swing seat that we hadn’t hung up yet. Ivy sat on it and went down the slide. It looked like fun so I tried it too. That was a mistake. The swing popped up from under me and hit me in the chin. Mom put a butterfly bandaid on it and grandma made me mashed potatoes for supper since I couldn’t move my mouth without reopening the wound. I still have a scar, and I learned not to always do what someone else does. -
Friends
This is the year I became involved at school. I took a class at Argos in 5th grade and started playing softball. Lily was my best friend and we did everything together. -
Europe
My uncle took my parents and Ivy and me on a trip to Paris and Amsterdam. We got to see a bunch of new things and try new food. I remember climbing up the Eiffel Tower, making a stroopwaffle in Amsterdam, and going to the Anne Frank house. -
Youth group
I started going to youth group and was influenced by my youth pastor (Levi) and church friends (Colin, Jesse, Eli). -
Travel softball
This is when I started travel softball and had people that I was around consistently. I have played with a lot of different people over the years and have learned from those experiences. -
Church
This is when we started going to Faith Outreach Center. Since then, Pastor Terry and several other people at church have had an impact on my life. -
Teachers and peers
This is when I started going to public school and was influenced by teachers and peers consistently. I learned about math and science from my teachers and I learned lots of stuff from my peers. -
Coaches
In addition to basketball and softball, I ran cross country. Bob and Savannah Lyon impacted me a lot. Bob is like my second dad, and Savannah has been my best friend since 8th grade. I also learned a lot from coach Joe and coach Ty. -
College Softball
This is when Brad Smith was really helping me understand college softball and how to get recruited. He helped me know for sure that I wanted to play in college. -
Youth group
We go to youth group and bible study at New Song. Pastor Kelvin teaches us how to grow as a Christian and live out our faith in highschool. We have Christian friends at youth group that are good influences (usually).
