    Have more than half of a million members. It’s the nation’s oldest, largest, and most recognized civil rights organization. Was made because of the 1908 riot in Springfield, Illinois.

    Jackie Robinson
    First African American to play in major league baseball. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He won the world series in 1955.
  • Rosa Parks

  • Emmit Till

    Emmit Till
    The night of August 28, 1955, Emmit Till was beaton, shot in the head, and thrown in the Tallahatchie River. He was a 14 year old boy from Chicago. He was killed for whistleing at a white women. Roy Bryant and J.W. was triled and found not guilty. A few mounths later they cofesed to murdering Emmit Till in a interview for "Look" magazine.
  • Little Rock 9

    Little Rock 9
    Group of African American students that got enrolled Little Rock Central High School. NAACP, tried to let African Americans in all white schools. NAACP got nine African American students to attend because of good grades and attendance. The “Little Rock Nine” was Elizabeth Eckfrod, Jefferson Thomas, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Walls LaNier, Minnijean Brown, Gloria Ray Karlmark, Thelma Mothershed, Melba Pattillo Beals, and Ernest Green. Ernest Green was the first to graduate from the school.

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Assignation

    Martin Luther King Jr. Assignation
    At 6:01pm Martin Luthur King Jr. was assignated in Lorraine hotel in Memphis Tennessee. At age 39, by James Earl Ray. He was arrested in London and pleaded guilty. He sentence 99 years in Tennessee state penitentiary. He died in the penitentiary in April of 1998 at age 70.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1968

    Civil Rights Act of 1968
    President Lyndon B. Johnson signs the civil right act. It provides for equal housing regardless of race, creed or natural origin. In 1988 it also allowed to add people with disabilities and for families with children.
