Start of World War 1
On June 28, 1914, Francis Ferdiand was assassinated. This event was likely to be the spark of the start of WWI. Francis was traveling in an open car with surprisingly little security, where later Gavrilo Princip shot at the car and killed Francis.

Germany Declares War on France
On August 3, 1914, Germany declared war on France. This followed Germany's declaration of war on Russia, two days earlier. A few hours later, France declared war on Germany and readied their troops.

First Zeppelin Raid
On this day, the first Zeppelin raid took place. This was when two German Zeppelins dropped bombs on Great Yarmouth and King's Lynn on the Eastern coast of France. Germany deployed 3 zeppelins, the L.3, the L.4, and the L.6.

Adolf Hitler Battle of the Somme
On July 1, 1916, Hitler took part in the start of the Battle of the Somme. The German side had been hit hard for weeks. Along with the Germans already being weakened, the Allies also had a much larger force at this time.
