Adam Noam Chomsky was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1928 to prominent Hebrew scholars. His growing environment was very intellectually stimulating from a young age for both him and his brother. -
Systems of Syntactic Analysis
Chomsky studied linguistics at university which brought him to the inclination of writing his first book. He addressed the study of sentence structures and proposed that syntax is independent of semantics. Most famously, the sentence “Colorless green ideas sleep furiously,” was derived to demonstrate that even though it has no clear meaning, to the average English speaker, it instinctively seems grammatically correct. On Power and Ideology is Published
In 1980, Chomsky traveled to Nicaragua to give a lecture which became the book On Power and Ideology.
