My grandfather's father was the last king in Gilgit Baltistan, coming from a long line that was once a dynasty called the Maqpon dynasty.

My grandfather, Ali Ahmed Jahn, was born in Gilgit Pakistan in Gilgit Medical Center in March.

My grandfather moved to Danyor Pakistan with family for five years before returning to Gilgit.

My grandfather lived a comfortable life with his parents and had 9 siblings. He had five older brothers and 4 older sisters at this time. His was the youngest of the 10 kids.

My grandfather started going to primary school with the rest of his siblings.

He then moved to Peshawar Pakistan to pursue higher education. Abdul left his family behind in Gilgit, 229 miles away.

He Attended the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar.

My grandfather Graduated university with a master in engineering for Electrical and Computer engineering.

He then got married the year he graduated, and moved back to Gilgit Pakistan to be closer to family, with his wife, Bibi. (An older picture of them)

He got a job as an electrical engineer and he worked in that field for most of his working career.

In 1975, My grandfather and grandmother have their first child, Zainab.

After Zainab is born, they realize they want to have more kids. The next year they have another daughter, Safia (my mom).

In his free time, my grandfather would often fish. This was passed down and is something all his kids, and their kids do often.

Earthquakes often occur in Pakistan, this one at 7.2 magnitude affected my grandparents most.

In 1993, my grandparents have their last child, Muhammed. He is the youngest of 7 children, 4 girls and 3 boys.

Their oldest daughter, Zainab gets married and has her first child, a boy named Taimoor.

My mom, the second daughter gets married to Rehan Khan (my dad), after knowing him for five years. The Jahn family becomes very close with the Khan family, and it remain that way to this day.

My mom and dad move to the US, becoming the first American immigrants in their families, along with my older brother, who is also named Taimoor.

My grandfather's third grandchild is born. I am the first american born citizen in my entire family.

My grandparents second eldest daughter returns with her children and husband to visit. This is the last time we have been to Pakistan, and I haven't seen my mom's parents since.

By 2005, my grandfather retires from his job as an electrical engineer. He now lives comfortably, surrounded by the rest of my family.

My grandfather is now 68 years old. He lives near most of my family and has 13 grandkids. He spends his time focused on family, while maintaining a farm and garden.
