Lincoln's Ten Percent Plan
This plan says that if a southern state wanted to be readmitted into the Union 10% of its voters had to swear a oath to the Union. -
Lincoln vetoes Wade-Davis Bill (this is part of Radical Reconstrution)
This bill says that it is requrired that if a state wanted to be re-emitted into the Union 50% of the state's white voters had to take a oath to the Union. -

Black codes were laws passed in southern states that their purpose was to restrict freedmen's freedom. -

This Amendment abolishes slavery in the US. -

Radical Republicans
Radical Republicans were Republicans that believed that blacks should have the exact same rights as whites. The danger was they were too stubborn and would not compromise. -
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Reconstruction Acts
THe 1st reconstruction act split the former Confederate states into 5 military sections. A Union General was in charge of each. -
Johnson impeached
Johnson was impeached because more people did not agree with his ideas of what should happen in the US during the Reconstruction. -
14th Ammendment ratified
This Ammendment granted citizenship to freedmen. -

Sharecropping
A system in agriculture that a land owner lets someone grow on their fields. When they harvest the crop the land owner gets some of it. -
15th Amendment ratified
This Amendment gave freedmen the right to vote. -
Enforcement acts
These acts were acts that protected a freedman's rights. Such as the right to vote, serve juries, and recieve equal protection of laws. -
Amnesty Act of 1872
This act removed the restrictions that were on former confederates. Except for the few hundred top officials. -
