Heavy fighting in Kabul started
In June of 1992, there was heavy fighting in West Kabul between the Pashtun forces of the warlord Sayyaf and the Hazaras of the Wahdat faction. Pashtun militiamen began attacking Hazara househilds. Giti, Laila's friend also died this year. -
Laila's parents are killed.
Mid-August in 1992, Laila's house is bombed and both her parents are killed. Mariam and Rasheed take care of her. -

Taliban take over in Afghanistan
They settled in the southern outskirt of Kabul, firing on the city, exchanging rockets with Ahmad Shah Masosud. Early in September they captured the cities of Jalalabad and Sarobi. The Taliban were united.
