Emily's father died. She was in denial for three days then finally came to terms with the truth before authorities had to get involved. -

There was a very unpleasent smell coming from Emilys house, so men came and sprinkled lime to neuitralize it. -
Emily's taxes were remitted
Two men came and tried to get Emily to pay taxes, however, she kept repeating "i have no taxes in Jefferson, Colonel". The men eventually left without a fight. -

Emily gives people china painting lessons before she completely isolates herself . When she isolates herself people are no longer going in and out, only her servant, Tobe. -
The cousins and townspeople come to "mourn"
Her two cousins and all of the townspeople came to mourn her. The men talked as if they'd danced with her or even courted her. -
Emily was sick and died
Emily got very sick and nobody knew because she was so isolated from society. She ended up dying in her house in her big oak bed. -
They buried Miss Emily
They buried Miss Emily and after, they decided that they would search an old room in her home. What they found left them surprised. -
They broke into the room and found a skeleton in the bed
They broke into the upstairs room only to find Homer, now a skeleton. There was male clothing laid as if it had just been taken off. -
They found out Emily slept with the body
While they looked around the room that they had broken into they found Miss Emily's hair and the indent of a head on the pillow right next to the dead body.
