At this point Miss Emily's taxes are remitted by Colonel Sartoris. He makes up a tale to get her to accept the offer. -
Homer says he likes men
Homer identifies himself as homosexual. This means he sees nothing more than a friendly relationship with Miss Emily. -
Miss Emily buys arsenic
Miss Emily is hurt emotionally at this point. She buys arsenic (poison) and gives no purpose for it's possible use. -
Homer disappears
Homer is last seen by a neighbor as he made his way into the kitchen. He was never heard from since. -
Weird smell develops
Neighbors complain about Miss Emily's house saying there is a bad smell leaving from her place. -
Men put lime at her house
The townspeople did not want to hurt her any more than she already was. They snuck to her house and used lime to try to eliminate the odor. -
Miss Emily's death
Miss Emily dies and the town mourns her death. People acted as if they were close to her. -
Homers dead body
A few wait for Miss Emily's body to be completely underground to go into her house. They find a room with a dead body enclosed within. It is Homer Baron.
