Fathers Death
Emily's dad died in 1862. Her father left her alone and only left her the house that is why she gets so attached to it. -
Intro to Homer
A summer after Emily's dad had passed away the town let the contracts for paving the sidewalks and the on the construction team was Homer a big, dark, ready man, with a big voice and eyes lighter then his face. People then began to see Homer & Emily together on sundays in a yellow-wheeled buggy. -
Taxes Remitted
Soon after Emily's father had passed Colonel Sartoris remitted her taxes into perpetuity. Miss Emily would not accept charity but her father had loaned money to the town so this was how they would repay him.

Homer Left Emily's house
Once Emily's cousins came around he left because he felt uncomfortable."People were not surprised when Homer Barron was gone". -
Homer never seen again
Homer comes back 3 days later. "A neighbor saw the Negro man admit him at the kitchen door at dusk one evening. And that was the last we saw of Homer Barron." -
Poison
While the two female cousins were visiting Emily purchased Poison. "I want arsenic" and she did not give him the reason why to. -
Smell
Two years after her father died and after her sweetheart deserted her the house began to smell. People were telling the Juge to tell MIss Emily her house stinks but he said that was rude so in the middle of the night they took "Lime" a chemical to take away the smell.

Cousins came to Vist
The town people began to dislike Miss Emily and Homer talking. "It was a disgrace to the town and a bad example to the young people". -
China painting
After not appearing for a while since Homer was last seen she began to give China painting lessons to children. She fitted up a studio in a room downstairs. -
Emily refusing to change her ways
"When the town got free postal delivery Miss Emily alone refused to let them fasten the metal numbers above her door and attach a mailbox to it. While generations went on Emily still wanted to keep her same ways. -
Emily dies
Emily basically died because of lack of good hygiene.They described her living arrangements as Inescapable, Impervious, tranquil, and perverse. -
Discovering the TRUTH
Soon after Emily died everyone wanted to see the inside of her house since nobody had been in there in years. The negro let them in and was never to be seen again. The people came across a room that no one had been in since 40 years ago they forced the door open and "The man himself lay in the bed" They found Homer's dead corpse.
