Metis Bill of Rghts
The Metis Bill of rights is a list of rights presented to the Metis in 1869. Pretty straight forward. It had a pretty solid significance in the Red River Rebellion. After the Bill of Rights was passed in 1869 it definitely helped settle the Rebellion, because it gave the Metis new and better human rights. This Bill of Rights also helped Manitoba become a province. -
Laws of the St. Laurent
The Laws of St. Laurent were extensions of the Metis Bill of Rights. These laws made some tension more than there already was. It created tension because it outlawed the bison hunt to try and preserve them. Concerning the Metis because at the time Bison was the main source of all meals. If they couldn't hunt bison they wouldn't have much for food. -
Cypress hill massecre
This "fight" did not help the Governments case at all. Through the years and all the things that the Metis and the government had gone through the Metis did not put all their trust in the government, actually with everything that kept happening you could say that the government kept losing more and more of the Metis trust. this attack on the innocent group of Metis men and women definitely caused a lot more tension between the government and the Metis which impacted the rebellion. -
Indian act
This along with many of these events impacted the Rebellion because it showed again that the government didn't really care to have a peaceful coexistence with the first nations they just wanted to get full control of them. The Indian act was just that. It imposed government control over all Natives, covering many aspects of daily life. Through all the things the government did to try and get full control this act was exactly that, meaning it did not make the first nations happy at all. -
Louis Riel Returns
This event in the rebellion was very important to the Metis. Louis Riel was a very important aspect in the Metis getting anything that they got from the Government. Considering that the Metis did not really know much about laws and the government, other than that they hate them, Louis Riel knew everything that the Metis didn't. He helped them deal with the government, until his unfortunate hanging. but we will get to that later. -
Battle of fish creek
This was important because out of all the significant events in the red river rebellion the next 2 are actual fights that went down to protest against the government. Many of the important events that took place during the rebellion were legal disputes, but this and the next one showed what the Metis could do and not just what Louis Riel could do. -

Trial of Louis Riel
This was a huge part of the Red River Rebellion because it was pretty much the end for the Rebellion. Having the leader killed kind of stopped it dead in its tracks. This was probably this biggest and most significant event through-out the whole timeline. The trial of Louis Riel was one of the biggest spectacles in Canadian history. Louis Riel was charged with high treason for leading the North West Rebellion. His trial only lasted 5 days. -
Louis Riel Execution
This event kind of follows the importance of Louis's trial. about 4 months after his trial Louis was hung for the crime he was convicted. Thus fully ending the rebellion for good. He was convicted for "Treason for leading the Red River Rebellion
".This obviously impacted the rebellion because it was the end of it. In my own opinion Louis Riel should not have been hung. Honestly i think the Metis should've been responsible for making the decision of what to do.
