The election of the 1800s was very intense. There was a lot of betrayal during this election as well. This is the first time that opponents got a chance to campaigned for a election. When Adam was running for president he started becoming very unpopular, because of his choices and things he made or did. When Adams ran for president in the 1800s he didn't get that many votes this time compared to his opponents. During the election both Jefferson and Burr tied in their votes. -
Louisiana Purchase
With the purchase of Louisiana from France, America signed a treaty. They paid $15 million for Louisiana. France could've gave it to them for more money, but they needed the money and to get rid of it as fast as they could. -
Marbury v. Madison Supreme Court Decision
William Marbury had his right to his commision, according to the Supreme Court. Supreme Court can't under seal this issue. John Marshal believed that the Judicial branch should be able to look over the power of the legislative and the executive branch. -
Lewis & Clark reach the Pacific Ocean
The Corps, Lewis, and Clark reached the mouth of the Columbia River and reached the Pacific Ocean. The day they did this was very foggy. That day the Columbia river could've been atleast 4 to 5 miles wide. Lewis and Clark couldn't even see one of the sides of the river. -
Treaty of Ghent
U.S. and Great Britian signed the Treaty of Ghent. This treaty helped end the war of 1812. The U.S. and England had an agreement that England would take their soldiers of the United States territory. -
Andrew Jackson Elected President (1st Term)
Mr.Jackson was elected as president March,4th 1829. He was in office until 1832. He was between the border of South and North Carolina. Jackson's election is know as the Revolution. He was the president who introduce the spoiler system in the government that we know today.
