Iran Hostage Release
The Iran Hostage Crisis was a watershed in the relationship between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. It all started on November 4, 1979. The students, who were supporters of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, took sixty-six American hostage, fifty-two whom were held captive for 444 days. This hurt Jimmy Carter's presidency and also the relationship between the US and Iran. With Shah gone, various factions fought for control of the Iranian states. -
Jerry Brown
Jerry Brown was a Presidental candidate, Mayor of Oakland (2010), and attorney general. Having served from 1974 to 1982. Brown was re-elected governor in 1978 by the largest margin in California history. Brown ran for president in 1980 his campaign slogan was "Protect the Earth, serve the people. Explore the Universe." He ran for president against Jimmy Carter but was unsuccessful. -

Flashdance was a film from 1983, It not only created a new fashion style quickly embraced by females of all ages, but it also introduced the world actress Jennifer Beals and the wholesome but pretty character she played. Her character welded by day and by night she was a dancer. Her character wore sweatpants and a sweatshirt that was ripped at the neck. Combining comfort with sexuality, the style also embraced athleticism for women by making workout wear cool. -
Grenada Invasion
The events that triggered the United States intervention in Grenada, code-named Urgent Fury, began long before the 24 October 1983 Presidental directive. The execution of Prime MinisterMaurice Bishop on 19 October 1983, however, set into motion a series of events that would end up in the largest United States Military operation since the Vietnam war. Soviets were trying to make Grenada a big military and they were trying to get information on the US to take over. -

The Iran-Contra Affair was a covert and illegal arms deal conducted by the United States during the 1908s. This deal was between Iran and Nicaragua. It was the most infamous scandal in the United States following watergate. This ruined Ronald Reagan's reputation it raised important questions about either and accountability in the United States -
Geraldine Ferraro's
Ferraro's record impressed the voters, who reelected her again in 1980 and 1982. She served on the house of the committee on public works and transportation advocating noise control and air safety. In 1984 Ferraro made history when 64 years to the day that women candidate for vice presidency from a major party. Bush won reelection in 1984 with a total of 59% of the popular vote and 525 out of 538 electoral votes. -
Jim Bakker
Television became an impact on American Culture during the Second part of the twentieth century. James Bakker was a pentecostal preacher who became one of the leading televisionist in the 1980s. He had a very popular show called "PTL Club" which stood for "Praise the Lord." Jim/James Bakker made many autobiographies about the Christian faith. It took a sex scandal, rather than a wanton materalism, to bring Bakker and his PTL empire crashing down in 1987. -
Jesse Jackson
Jackson launched his first campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984. He gained om 1984 and new resources, Jackson and his Rainbow coalition he founded in 1986. He won five southern states on supper Tuesday, March 8, 1988, On March 26, 1988 he stunned a lot of people like Michigan primary when he won 55% of the North.
